However, in a matter of weeks, President Trump and Elon Musk have taken actions that have severely undermined this work, with plans to completely dismantle U.S.A.I.D. Trump has publicly called for the agency to be shut down, citing unspecified corruption and fraud. While a federal judge has temporarily halted some of these plans, the damage has already been done, causing confusion, fear, and even paranoia among U.S.A.I.D. offices in Africa.
