Despite ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Iran, and Lebanon, Israel has managed to overcome its enemies and establish a sense of stability. This has been achieved through the exercise of raw power and strategic alliances with countries in the Persian Gulf, as well as a strong partnership with US President Trump.
Retired Israeli general Yaakov Amidror believes that areas once under constant threat, such as Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, will now be more secure than Manhattan. However, this newfound security has come at a cost. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s aggressive military response to a Hamas-led attack in 2023 has solidified Israel’s reputation as a pariah state, with accusations of genocide and war crimes being leveled against its leadership. This has resulted in a negative perception of Israel in global opinion polls.
The war against Hamas in Gaza has also taken a devastating toll, with tens of thousands of casualties and over a million people left homeless and hungry. The enclave has been reduced to rubble, and poverty and hopelessness are widespread. Additionally, hundreds of Israeli soldiers have lost their lives, and it is believed that around 20 hostages are still being held captive in Hamas tunnels after 631 days.
