According to a recent post by Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, the company behind the $140 billion cryptocurrency USDT is currently working on an artificial intelligence (AI) platform and plans to launch it in early 2025. Ardoino shared on Friday that he had just received the draft of the website for Tether’s AI platform and that it is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2025.
Tether is best known for issuing USDT, the most widely used stablecoin in the market. However, under Ardoino’s leadership, the company has been making significant efforts to expand its business beyond stablecoin issuance. This includes investing in various companies across different sectors such as energy, payments, telecommunications, and AI. Tether also recently restructured its corporate structure to reflect its broader focus.
Last year, Tether acquired a stake in Northern Data, a company specializing in AI and cloud computing, indicating its growing interest in the AI industry. While there is limited information available about the upcoming AI platform, Tether’s move to enter the rapidly growing AI market highlights the increasing intersection of crypto and AI.
In an email to CoinDesk, Ardoino stated that the upcoming AI platform is just the beginning of a long journey for Tether, which will see significant investments in the sector. He also emphasized that the company’s focus will remain on building technology solutions that promote freedom, independence, and resilience.
