Here’s what a variety of voters who made their choices in November’s election with some hesitation had to say about President Trump’s first 100 days. The New York Times reports that the first 100 days of President Trump’s second term have been marked by a flurry of activity, including the implementation of steep tariffs worldwide, the detention of immigrants, and significant cuts to the federal workforce. The publication has been speaking with a group of voters who cast their ballots in the last election with some hesitation, and after witnessing the actions of the new administration, they have formed early opinions on the first 100 days. According to a recent Times/Siena College poll, even those who approve of President Trump’s job performance view his first few months as “chaotic” and “scary.”
One voter, Jaime Escobar Jr., 46, from Roma, Texas, who serves as the mayor of a small border town, has been closely monitoring the effectiveness of the administration’s strategies. While he remains mostly optimistic, he admits to being cautious. “I’m not saying I’m 100 percent happy with everything, but for the most part, I feel that Trump is addressing the issues that were important to American voters,” he said, specifically referencing immigration and the economy. “I don’t regret voting for him.”
