Gaming is a big part of the billionaire’s public persona. But other players are questioning whether he has the time or the skill to be as accomplished as he claims.According to The New York Times, gaming has become a significant part of billionaire Elon Musk’s public image. However, some fellow gamers are questioning whether he truly has the time and skill to be as accomplished as he claims.
Despite being the world’s richest man, CEO of multiple companies, and a key advisor to President Trump, Musk has repeatedly stated that he is also a world-class video game player. He has a dedicated account on his social media platform, X, where he shares highlights of his gameplay. He has also streamed with top competitive players on platforms like Twitch and has even made it onto global leaderboards for certain games.
However, last week, the gaming community turned against Musk. During a livestream of him playing Path of Exile 2, a popular action role-playing game known for its difficulty, internet sleuths began to dissect his gameplay. They found mistakes that even a novice player wouldn’t make. Some gamers also pointed out that Musk’s account had been active at times when he couldn’t have been playing, such as during Mr. Trump’s inauguration.
One streamer even questioned how Musk could be playing the game while also being at the Capitol Rotunda during the inauguration. This raised suspicions that someone else may have been playing on his account while he was busy with other commitments.
It remains to be seen whether Musk truly has the time and skill to be a top video game player, but for now, the gaming community is skeptical of his claims.
