These countries have been plagued by conflict, military coups, and repressive regimes, and the ban will prevent citizens from these nations from entering the US to build new lives. The ban, which goes into effect on Monday, also includes citizens from Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. In addition, citizens from seven other countries, including Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela, will be barred from entering the US on tourist and student visas, as well as from settling permanently in the country.
