A group of masked individuals attempted to kidnap the daughter and young grandson of a top executive at a cryptocurrency company in Paris. However, the attackers were unsuccessful and fled the scene after a violent struggle. This incident is just one of many recent cases of violence targeting individuals connected to the crypto industry in France. The attack, which was captured on video by a bystander, took place in the city’s 11th district at around 8:20 a.m. Reports from local media indicate that the woman and her husband were getting out of their car with their child when three men jumped out of a white van and tried to abduct them. The couple fought back, resulting in the husband being hit multiple times on the head while trying to protect his family. The wife was able to grab a gun from one of the attackers and throw it into the street. Police later confirmed that the weapon was a replica air gun. Despite the busy street and nearby schoolchildren, witnesses were hesitant to intervene at first. However, as more people began to react, the attackers fled back to their van, where a fourth person was waiting. As they drove away, one witness threw a fire extinguisher at the vehicle. The family was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries. Police sources have confirmed that the woman is the daughter of a high-ranking executive at a crypto company, and AFP has reported that the victims are related to the co-founder of a French Bitcoin exchange. The Paris police unit responsible for armed robbery is currently investigating the incident. This is just the latest in a series of violent incidents targeting individuals connected to the crypto industry in France. Just over a week prior, the father of a crypto millionaire was kidnapped in another part of Paris while walking his dog. He was held for ransom and released after three days with one of his fingers cut off. Several suspects have been arrested in connection with this case. In January, the co-founder of a crypto wallet company and his wife were taken from their home in central France and held for a 10 million euro ransom. They were later rescued, but the co-founder was also found to be missing a finger. Around the same time, there were rumors of another kidnapping involving the co-founder of a different crypto company, but these were later denied by French media. While authorities have not confirmed any connections between these incidents, all of the victims had some involvement in the crypto industry.
